Toddler Learning Room

Growing Independence Through Play and Discovery
2 to 3 years

Welcome to the Toddler Room

Between the ages of 2 and 3, children are rapidly developing their sense of identity, independence, and confidence. Our Toddler Room is designed to gently guide and support this exciting stage through a calm, structured, and nurturing environment where children feel safe to explore, try new things, and grow.

Partnering with Families

We understand how important consistency is during this time, which is why we work closely with families to create a strong link between home and care. This includes supporting key milestones such as toilet training and assisting children with the gradual move away from bottles when they are ready. By maintaining shared routines and clear communication, we help children feel secure as they navigate these important transitions.

A Play-Based Learning
Program

Our learning program is play-based and intentionally designed to support the whole child. Language development is encouraged through everyday conversations, storytelling, music, and repetition, helping children build confidence in communicating their needs and ideas. Early thinking skills are developed through simple problem-solving, sorting, counting, and hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity and engagement.

Holistic Development

Social and emotional growth is supported through group experiences where children are gently guided to practice sharing, turn-taking, and understanding their own feelings as well as those of others. Physical development is fostered through active indoor and outdoor play, including climbing, running, jumping, balancing, and fine motor activities that strengthen coordination and independence.

Each day, our educators create meaningful, engaging experiences that respond to children’s interests while supporting them to grow at their own pace in a safe, caring, and connected environment.

Valuing Children’s Voices

Children’s voices play a vital role in shaping practice and decision-making within the service. Children are supported to express their ideas and preferences through play, interactions, gestures, and early communication. Educators observe and respond to these cues to inform decisions about the learning environment, daily routines, experiences, and resources. Children are also given regular opportunities to contribute to simple choices throughout the day, supporting their sense of belonging, autonomy, and participation within the service.
